\r\nThere are two main dyeing methods: tsuke-zome<\/em> (immersing the fabric in dye liquor), and hiki-zome<\/em> (painting the fabric with dye using a brush). Additionally, methods to create patterns in the fabric can be divided into techniques that use threads and wooden tools to tie or squeeze the fabric (such as the hitta-shibori, nuijime-shibori, itajime,<\/em> and okedashi-shibori<\/em> techniques) and techniques that use paste and \/ or wax (such as the itome-y\u016bzen, utsushi-y\u016bzen,<\/em> and r\u014dketsu<\/em> techniques). Each of these techniques has a rich variety of associated terms and expressions.\r\n<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n
